Inspire

For quite a few years now, I have been hugely influenced by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's personal style, and so when I heard they were releasing a book based on those who directly influences them, of course I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

Luckily, my copy of the book arrived yesterday, and immediately I could sense how different this book was from other celebrity "written" books. You can tell that they had a direct hand in the book, and didn't just slap their names on the cover.

It's a collection of photos, quotes, and interviews with big name designers, photographers, illustrators, etc... All conducted by the girls themselves.

One of my favorite parts of the book is where Ashley and Mary-Kate have filled out a questionaire. Everyone has always seen them as the same, but their answers to these questions couldn't be more proof as to how different they actually are.

I'll call it the "Influence" questionaire, even though it really is a questionaire called "An Album to Record Thoughts, Feelings, etc."

-Your most marked characteristic?
-The quality you most like in a man?
-The quality you most like in a woman?
-What do you most value in your friends?
-What is your principle defect?
-What is your favorite occupation?
-What is your dream of happiness?
-What to your mind would be the greatest misfortunes?
-What would you like to be?
-In what country would you like to live?
-What is your favorite color?
-What is your favorite flower?
-What is your favorite bird?
-Who are your favorite prose writers?
-Who are your favorite poets?
-Who is your favorite hero of fiction?
-Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?
-Who are your favorite composers?
-Who are your favorite painters?
-Who are your heroes in real life?
-What is it you most dislike?
-What natural gift would you most like to possess?
-How would you like to die?
-What is your present state of mind?
-To what faults do you feel most indulgent?
-What is your motto?
-Your Name or Pseudo

Feel free to answer the questions, and maybe even pass it along.

Happy Holiday Season

With Christmas just days away, I thought this was a perfect time to send out a holiday greeting to everyone.

I hope that everyone has a great holiday season and that the new year brings good things to everyone's lives.

It seems as if all of us are experiencing some sort of difficulty at this time, but we have to remember this is all temporary and that soon enough better times will come if we hold on a little longer.

Have a safe & wonderful week and New Year!

:]

Colors of Spring 2009

Pantone has released it's fashion color report and one of the colors listed is Lucite Green.

Although I have never referred to this color by that name, as you can see, it is one that I am currently obsessed with. I always tend to fall in love with colors that aren't trendy quite yet, but they always seem to become popular quite some time after I've spent forever looking for it.

I guess it's good to be ahead of the curb, but when you're in the moment of looking for whatever you want, and cannot find it at that time, then that's when it becomes frustrating.

Soon, though, I guess I'll be able to find enough "Lucite Green" to last me a lifetime.

haha.

Do you have a particular color you really like, but hasn't yet become big enough to be painted on everything?

Day Before Thanksgiving

I know that Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but I figured it will be such a busy day for everyone, so I'm going to do my Turkey Day blog today.

I'm so thankful for everyone's support!

Weither you're one who reads my blogs, buys my designs, or simply visits my site, to you I say:

THANK YOU!

Seriously, it means a lot to me & I appreciate every single person.

I hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving Day, and eats WAY too much. haha.

I always watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and each year they showcase the musicals on Broadway during it. Seeing that most of the musicals have or are closing, though, I'm anxious to see who performs tomorrow.

Now onto store news...

Some new designs have made their way into the store:

-Audrey's Garden
-Peace & Love (seen above)
-Bunnie-Loon

So, if you have a minute, go take a peek at them.

:)

Have a great weekend!

All you need is L-O-V-E

Brand new design in the store! It's called LOVE (if looking at it didn't give that away. haha).

You can order the design on so many items, such as a tee, hoodie, or even a tote like the one you see here.

So, if you have a few minutes, stop by!

In other news...

Taylor Swift's new album Fearless dropped this week. I'm not a country music fan, but for some reason, I absolutely love her music. The lyrics are what really draw me in half the time.

I've had just about every song from the album on repeat all week. If you're a fan of hers already, then I'm sure you'll love this album just as much as the last.

She's also on the cover of CosmoGirl for December. She's wearing this AMAZING Vivienne Tam black dress in the issue. I would post a picture of her in it, but seeing that I always get my copy of the magazine in the mail way before it hits newstands, nobody has the pictures online yet.

I guess you'll just have to go see it for yourself when it arrives at your local grocery store aisle. haha.

Toodles.

November Notions

This is such a magical time of year.

As soon as I flip my calender over to November (Yes, I have a wall calender. haha. It's Andy Warhol.), I start getting excited for all that this season could bring, and what memories occupy my thoughts from the past.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and has been as long as I can remember. I always wake-up in time to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, as my house gradually fills with the scent of delicious food.

It's all a sweet reminder and kick-start to another great holiday... Christmas.

The feeling in the air is undeniable. I absolutely love it and look forward to it each and every year.

What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving-time memories?

DIY Video Filmed

Just posting to let everyone know that I just finished shooting the DIY Video! It'll be up tomorrow.

This is me in the shirt I made for the video. There are actually two templates that will be up for download that you can use for your shirt. One is the skull that Aly has on her tank, and the other is the butterfly that is on the shirt I made.

I love the rigid and distorted outcome of it, with the lace. Lace is usually looked upon as very girly, and so this puts a different spin on things.

Check back TOMORROW for the video & templates, that way you too can make a shirt.

One last thing...

If you make the shirt and want to send me pictures of your creation, feel free to send me the links to them through the contact form on my website.

Chao til tomorrow!

Calm Before the Storm

I completely forgot to tell everyone about my latest design in the store.

It's called "Calm Before the Storm" and it's avaliable on everything from tees to totes.

Tomorrow I will be filiming the DIY video for the Aly tank design, so look for that to be posted by Sunday.

Sorry I wasn't able to get it done last weekend, as originally promised, but I can ensure you it'll be done tomorrow.

I'm going to also be working on some more holiday designs, and I'll update you on when those are in the shop.

The 2008 Holiday Season

It's now November!

Which means Christmas and Thanksgiving are right around the cornor.

I've added a lot more seasonal designs to my store, so if you're one of those people who love to shop early, then be sure you take a look around there.

Unfortunately, I was not able to film the DIY video this past weekend, but I WILL do so this upcoming weekend.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween. I sure did.

:)

Chao for now!

Changes

Hello everyone! The store has had even more changes to it. You can now get just about every design on a whole lot more items.

This weekend, I'll shooting the DIY video for the Aly tank. My friend will be joining me in it. No sewing skills required, so this will be something everyone will be able to do. Check back for that.

I finished the book "Just Listen" by Sarah Dessen today. I would highly recommend it. It's only the second book of hers I've read, --the first being "The Truth About Forever"-- and I absolutely love her as an author now. So, go read one now!

Halloween is just days away. Anyone planning on dressing up? If so, what are you going to be?

It's always fun to put on costumes.

That's all for now!

:)

chao.

Missa by Design the BLOG

I'm so excited to have finally launched an offical blog for Missa by Design. It's not just going to be updates about my designs and my shop. This blog will also be used to post fashion DIYs, tips, news, thoughts, and whatever else comes to mind.

If you have any suggestions or what to see me blog about something specific, then I'd love to read your comments about whatever it is you want.

I don't have anything prepared for this entry. This is mostly just to announce what's to come.

My first DIY will feature how to make a tank simular to the one Aly Michalka of Aly & AJ is wearing in the photo above, including with different designs.

So get your scissors ready & be prepared to create something amazing!
