Red Carpet Rundown: The Emmy Awards 2010
There were some distinct trends seen on the red carpet this year at the Emmy Awards.
Topping the list of trends was deep, jewel-tone colors-- including midnight blue, plum, and wine.
Lea Michele (in Oscar de la Renta), Jayma Mays (in Burberry Prorsum), Jane Lynch (in Ali Rahimi), and Kyra Sedgwick (in Monique Lhuillier) were some of the actresses seen sporting the jewel color trend.
A complete opposite of the deep colors seen above, we saw dusty purples and blues.
Emily Blunt (in Christian Dior), Amy Poehler (in Max Azria), and Christina Hendricks (in Zac Posen) were some of the lovely actresses that worked this trend.
The always popular color choice of black was also seen-- but the added embellishments and textures on the dresses added intrigue to the looks.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus (in Narciso Rodriguez), Tina Fey (in Oscar de la Renta), and Eva Longoria (Robert Rodriguez) were amongst the actresses that looked sleek in black.
Greek-style was prominent as well on the red carpet.
Amber Riley (in Melissa Masse), Rose Byrne (in Gucci), and Kim Kardashian (in Marchesa) all wore flowy, Grecian looks-- that were also accented with metallic embellishments.
Speaking of metallics, there were a handful of metalic, sparkling dresses seen.
Heather Morris (in Ina Soltani), Claire Danes (in Armani Prive), and Maria Menounos (in Ralph & Russo) all channeled glamor and old-Hollywood in their sequined, metallic dresses.
Now onto the more unusual looks of the night.
Heidi Klum (in Marchesa) and January Jones (in Versace) both had everyone in a frenzy over their nontraditional red carpet looks-- which I think they rocked.
With all the great fashion seen, there still were a few who went a bit overboard.
Mindy Kaling, Naya Rivera, and Anna Paquin all fall on my worst-dressed list. From head-to-toe, their looks just didn't work. Naya and Mindy's hair didn't help either. In this case, the less-is-more concept would have come in handy.
My favorite look of the night came from Glee's Dianna Agron (in Carolina Herrera).
I know lace isn't everyone's cup of tea-- but I happen to love it.
The make-up, hair, coloring, and dress all were cohesive and created a beautiful over-all look. I think having the black underlay helped give it a modern edge as well.
